SLITHER YOUR WAY INTO THIS TREND

There\’s no doubt that South Florida takes the cake when it comes to animal print trends. It is a fact (I\’ve asked my big retail buyers) that Miami leads the way when it comes to leopard, snakeskin, and basically any animal print/pattern that hits the market.

Let\’s face it. We like to be loud in our fashion and make a statement. Sign me up for an animal print any day, especially leopard. It\’s my go to- because it\’s a neutral, easily paired with anything in my closet. Another print I love, but just slightly more hesitant to wear, is snakeskin. Yes, I was covered in the accessories department with snakeskin print heels, wedges, flats, and even some sweet clutches, but I never actually ventured into clothing. I know, hard to believe but I didn\’t know if I could pull off this trend…

Until I saw this two piece snakeskin set at Reformation in the Design District (While this set is sold out, heres a link to the same print in a different style top).

I took this rad two piece snakeskin print set to Caja Caliente in Wynwood, one of my favorite neighborhood spots because if it\’s awesome tacos but even more awesome chill backyard vibe. We fit right in. Here\’s what I learned about snakeskin print- it\’s similar to the leopard trend in that it can also be a neutral. It\’s not really that hard to pair, and it\’s quite chic.

I\’ve already worn this set several times AND I\’ve also worn it with other looks. I recently wore the pants (which by the way are buttery soft), with a neon top and a graphic tee. I\’m excited to wear the top with some high waisted denim and even some neon pink joggers I got.

I\’m happy that the snakeskin trend is now in my life and happily living in my closet in a few pieces. It is a trend that can often be overlooked and if not done right, can come off as slightly tacky. With the explosion of the neon trend, we also saw snakeskin slither it\’s way into that trend, by way of swimsuits, body con dresses, and more. I\’ll hold off on that one for now and keep it a little more classic in subdued colors of grey, black, white, and brown.

Maybe you want to just dip your toes into this trend- literally. Start with a shoe. I love my snakeskin print booties that I wear with everything from dresses to culottes. I also have some sexy snakeskin heels that elevate any dress or any outfit because they are that fierce!

If you\’re thinking even smaller, try some snakeskin print earrings. Yes! They do exist and an easy way to compliment any look.

My set right here, gives me life bc I can wear it so many different ways! As a matter of fact, it\’s coming with me to NY and I can\’t wait to sport it.

When it came to accessorizing my look, I went with these really beautiful Frida earrings from local retailer, Shine Design and Shop. They have an etsy shop but you can also find them at the Wynwood Shops. They have so many cool designs and styles! I love the lilac and blue paired with the snakeskin print.

Lastly, keeping that hair out of my face with good ol pearl barrettes! I love these. They are preppy, classic, and playful. Wear a few together or keep it simple with just one!

What do you think of the snakeskin trend?
