It seems like my last few segments have been all about crisp summer whites, specifically the Little White Dress. Excuse me while I bring your attention back to the ever-so-timeless and classic, Little Black Dress. It\’s a dress for all season and a must-have in every closet. That little black dress will never let you down. Whether you\’re going to dinner, work, or even a cocktail affair, the little black dress can pull off any occasion. It\’s versatile, chic, and confident. It\’s far from basic. It\’s a fashion statement even if you\’re not trying to make one. It\’s the uniform of a woman with taste and class.

You want some fun facts about the LBD? I have a few! Did you know that back in the 19th century, it was actually working class women who wore simple black dresses as uniforms? In 1926, Coco Chanel designed an elegant sheath piece and the LBD movement was cultivated. It then exploded on the scene and was made famous by Audrey Hepburn in Breakfast at Tiffany\’s.

It was time for me to refresh my Little Black Dress. I was kind of shocked to discover that I really didn\’t have one that was universal in terms of versatility. I have two beautiful black dresses that belonged to my mom, but those definitely feel more upscale and and for more formal events.

I wanted something feminine but that I could also wear with boots if I wanted to. Something I could wear heels and an updo with, but also throw on a leather jacket if I was looking to change it up. I was really excited when the Haley Bob brand reached out to work with me on showcasing one of their colorful dresses. After going through the site, I realized I was loving the black dresses I was coming across! Here I thought I was going to walk away with something bright and poppy, but instead I found THE Little Black Dress for me.

When I saw this lace number, I was sold! The first word that comes to mind when I see this dress is, \’señorita\’! I don\’t know what it is about it, but it makes me want to do a little salsa dance in it like a true cuban-bred girl. I LOVE the sweetheart neckline. It\’s sexy, flirty, and a sassy. The off-the-shoulder silhouette is dramatic and hot! The ruffles and lace detailing are very Victorian-esque, a big trend for fall 2020. Now this is a dress I can definitely wear with strappy heels or some chic boots!

I decided to roughen up this look by adding these pointy toe black heels from Shein. It\’s an edgy vibe! What\’s great about the dress is that the length of the dress, which we\’ll call midi, balances out the low neckline so it continues to be tasteful and glamorous without crossing that tacky threshold. A fabric lace belt also serves to accentuate the waistline and show off our God-given curves!

Another pro of owning a little black dress? It\’s an open canvas to accessorize as you wish! Add pops of color with bags or shoes. Accessorize big or keep it classic in pearls. Play with your mood and accessorize accordingly! Look what I did with mine. I added a simple square clutch, a jeweled headband and some statement earrings to dress up my LBD. Embellishments are BIG for fall so don\’t be afraid to let it shine, ladies and gents!

I can\’t sign off without talking about the best accessory for a little black dress. Can you guess? A set of red lips that scream confidence and power! Now you\’re ready to rock in your LBD. Make Coco proud.
