PRIM AND PROPER FOR THANKSGIVING

Thanksgiving is three days away and I\’m already packed and ready for a week of parades, turkey, and shopping with Coco, the kids, and the rest of the fam bam. I can\’t even begin to tell you how excited I am! Not just to hang out with la familia, but to enjoy that crisp, fall weather and snuggle up in front a toasty fire with a bottle of wine and a bunch of screaming kids running around! Because….that\’s the reality, folks, and I wouldn\’t want it any other way!

Also equally excited for…..the Thanksgiving wardrobe, or as I like to say, your most extra living room outfit, because that\’s where you\’ll be wearing it too, and theres nothing wrong with that! Just because your home, doesn\’t mean you get away with wearing sweatpants or pjs. Oh no. Make it fabulous and make it scream fall, because for those of you in South Florida, the AC will be on indoors, so wear your favorite sweater dress or blazer! Go all out!

This dress was supposed to be my Thanksgiving outfit, but unfortunately I dropped it off too late at the dry cleaners and it won\’t be ready by tomorrow, so it\’ll have to be put to good use during Christmas instead, bc this dress screams HOLIDAY! If you recognize this dress from a Target collaboration, then you are right on the money! This particular dress is from designer, Anna Sui for her collab with Target in 2009, at the height of Gossip Girl mania. She designed several looks inspired by both Blair and Serena. This lace little number (yes, it\’s not lost on me that it looks like my grandma\’s doilies), with a Peter Pan collar and blue velvet bow was inspired by Blair\’s very prim and proper Upper East Side wardrobe.

Though Blair would not have paired this dress with moto boots, Kathy Buccio, a former UES resident, will. You know I love my frilly, ladylike dresses with a little edge and I love the juxtaposition of the worn studded boots, with this feminine frock. When the collection came back in celebration of Target\’s 20th collab anniversary, this dress was the only thing I wanted, and it was the only thing I got for myself. It had my name written all over it!

How do you accessorize a little dress like this? Well, that\’s up to you and your style personality! Maybe you want to keep the polished look going and wear with some heels and a cute clutch, or maybe you want to play around a little and add boots, a studded black cross body, and some pearl barrettes. That\’s the beauty of fashion- it\’s not a one way street, and I encourage you push the boundaries a little and step outside your comfort zone! I kept some of the dainty vibe that comes with the dress, but I really wanted it to showcase my personality and style.

How appropriate that we shot this look in the city I love? Maybe not on the UES, but still uptown and there\’s just something about the backdrop that makes it all so magical! I\’m grateful that tomorrow I\’ll be reunited (God-willing) with my husband and kids in the city that I also like to call HOME.
