CHANGING SEASONS

I\’ve been feeling the coming of spring in the last couple of days and I cannot begin to tell you how excited I am for a new season! This is one of the things I love about living in New York- experiencing winter, spring, summer, and fall in all its full glory. I have tired of the puffer coats, no matter how chic mine are, and looking forward to a happy medium of minimal layering and leather jackets. I think we\’re almost there, peeps.

My other favorite thing- transitioning my closet and seeing what pieces I can still wear for spring and which, unfortunately, will have to get put to the back of the closet or donated. Certain colors are best left to the changing leaves and temperatures, while others can see a rebirth with a different color palette, and that process, as Marie Kondo says, sparks a ridiculous amount of joy for me.

Take this outfit. I wore this look several times. I love the dark jewel-toned greens, the mustard yellow and the dark floral pattern. It just screams, \”hello fall!\” The question is, can I transition it to spring? Do I want to? Will I wear it again next fall? Ask yourself these questions when you\’re cleaning out your closet or trying to figure out if you are going to keep an item or not. You don\’t want to take up space for no reason for something you don\’t want to wear again or don\’t like or doesn\’t fit you. Remember, it\’s clothes. They don\’t have feelings. Don\’t feel bad getting rid of something, especially if its fast fashion.

To answer my own questions about this particular look, can I transition this is spring? I thought about pairing the pants with a grey or camel sweater, but I feel like it\’s still too fall/winter because of the colors. It\’s a huge contrast to what spring calls for. In that respect I say no. Next, will I wear it again next fall? And be honest with yourself. I knew I wouldn\’t wear the top again and I don\’t feel bad about it because 1) it was cheap. I got it on Shein and it served it\’s purpose. 2) I wore it twice so I got my moneys worth. With that said, I donated it to someone who will wear it. As far as the pants, I\’m keeping those. I love that green. It\’s so bold. Now I know for next fall, I can do a grey or camel sweater or turtleneck with it and it will work. That stays, as do the loafers and purse.

Transitioning your wardrobe between the changing seasons doesn\’t have to be daunting or overwhelming if you take it piece by piece. Ask yourself those basic questions- Do I like this? Will I wear it again? Can I transition it, do I even want to transition it and go from there! Personally, I\’m very much looking forward to seeing what looks I can keep wearing this spring! I got some ideas brewing and blooming that I\’m looking forward to sharing with you guys! If you find yourself stuck, I\’m only a DM away and happy to help you.

In the meantime, happy cleaning and happy spring!
