It\’s been a little over four months since my tummy tuck and I wanted to give you guys an update on my recovery and how I\’m feeling. It has given me so much joy to be able to connect with so many of you via Instagram, whether it\’s answering your questions, or sharing videos or photos of my scars and results. It really makes me so happy that I\’m able to help in some way and share my experience with you.
I\’m here to do it again! Last month, I went to my three month visit with Dr. Careaga at Careaga Plastic Surgery to see how I was recovering and how my scar was healing. I have gotten countless DMs from followers asking me about my experience with Dr. Careaga and I can\’t praise him enough. He was outstanding. Let\’s remember that he\’s known for his tummy tucks and belly button placement/reconstruction and he\’s double certified. I am so happy with my results and even more so that I went with him for my surgery. I\’m also a big fan of his team of nurses and aides. I think their bedside manner and attention is equally as important because you spend quite a lot of time with them during appointments and post surgery as well. They went above and beyond and were attentive and warm, and made me feel very comfortable. They answered all my 10000 questions and made my lymphatic massage experience extremely pleasant.
Alright, so let\’s get to how I feel, which is great. Many of you ask me if I\’m still in pain. No, I\’m not in pain. Honestly, the worst pain was those first three days. It was excruciating, but each day after that, got better and better as I became more mobile. I\’m four months out now, and I feel like a million bucks. Yes, you\’re still swollen, and will be for 6 months to a year. It depends on the person and their recovery. My ab muscles are still sore as is my belly and that\’s expected. I\’m exercising and I have no restrictions, which is amazing.
When I went to my appointment last month, Dr. Careaga checked out my scar, which he said was looking incredible. He said it that it looked more like a six month scar rather than a three and to continue putting my scar scream. The hyper pigmentation on my left side is getting less hard and less visible. Again, this is a product from the lipo. Sometimes hyper pigmentation of the skin can occur and it may take up to a year to heal. I have seen huge improvements after applying the medicated bleach cream he gave me as well as the cortisone cream.
The swelling has definitely gone down but I am still swollen, and again, that is normal and expected up to a year. If I press on certain parts of my abdomen and belly, I can feel it protruding and tough. The muscles are still healing and that takes time. The weirdest part of all this? Not having any sensation in that area! The area is numb and it\’s normal for some of that to stay that way forever. I\’ll touch certain parts and I can\’t feel a thing!
If you haven\’t noticed from some of my recent posts, I have been enjoying the heck out of wearing crop tops and bike shorts because, why not?! I feel great and I look great so why not flaunt that! I mean, I flaunted the diastasis before, but at least now, no one is asking me how far along I am.
Another thing that still blows my mind, is getting a glimpse of my VERY accentuated hour glass figure. Even thought I have a thin frame, I\’ve always had curves and a little bit of a butt, but now, its like BAM! Jessica Rabbit vibes in my face. The other day at the pool, I was walking by a mirror and had to stop because I did a double take. My hips look so much larger because my waist got tinier. I am NOT complaining whatsoever, but it\’s definitely wild to see the results. I especially noticed them the last couple of months when I decided to clean out my closet and drawers again to see how things fit and I gave away so many of my pants and dresses. I would normally buy mediums because of the diastasis but now, with the exception of bathing suits, I\’m back to a small.
I don\’t have to go back to the doctor for another two months, which will be my six months check up. I\’ve come a long way already in four months and I\’m thankful that everyday I see improvements and results and I owe that to an amazing doctor. I am so happy with my decision to get a tummy tuck and have my diastasis corrected. One of the best decisions I\’ve made.
I love sharing my experience with you and I love how into it you all were! So I say it again: If you have any questions or need any feedback, DM me. I am always happy to answer any and all your questions. Let\’s stick together and help each other out!
In Style,
Kathy
