I like to make a statement anywhere I go, and what better trend says \’hey, look at me!\’ than power shoulders! Yasssss queen, I am all here for it. It\’s an 80\’s trend that I wish never died. I remember vividly my mom getting dressed in the morning in one of her fabulous suits and her power shoulders (all thanks to some shoulder pads), would give me life!
They tend to pop in and out of the fashion trend wheel and they\’re back and I couldn\’t be happier! A little exaggeration never hurt anyone and they\’re making their way into our fall wardrobe. Don\’t be overwhelmed. It\’s not that hard to pull off, and imagine the instant boost of confidence you get from rocking something so \’in your face,\” so audacious, and so eye-catching!
Maybe you like some subtle height, maybe you like a little poof. The power shoulder comes in different variations and I\’m going to share one of my faves with you!
Poof Poof and away! I never say no to a good blouse, especially one with polka dots and some of the poofiest sleeves you\’ve ever seen! I scored this baby on Shein for a mere $18 and it\’s FIRE! Check out those sleeves! This voluminous sleeve is a power shoulder at it\’s finest! I love the exaggeration and I love that it\’s enhanced because of the dots and the wrap around silhouette of the top.
Strong shoulders emit confidence, boldness, and style. A trifecta secret weapon in the fashion world! One misconception with this trend is that it doesn\’t have to be worn solely as a formal or a dress up piece. You can easily dress it down with a pair of jeans and some boots. If it has a print, like this one, balance it out with a solid color bottom like my neon velvet skirt from H&M.
A defined shoulder speaks for itself! There\’s no need for anything else to over power it.
I love mixing prints and patterns, and playing with accessories and that\’s what I did with this look. I threw in some faux snakeskin pumps because I LOVE how it flows with the neon skirt! Like I said, you can get playful with the power shoulders and take on a softer approach. Think sneakers too!
I can\’t tell you how many compliments I get when I wear these bird earrings from Shein! They were four bucks and the best four bucks I\’ve spent. They\’re no longer in stock but their are some really cute alternatives still available! I really like them with this look because while they do have black and white tones, they have some other pops of color that blend it fluidly with the rest of the look!
Can\’t forget handbag! Kept it neutral with a clear envelope clutch and added some sunnies and barrettes to tie up this blazing look!
Will you try out the power shoulder trend this season?!
